What do you bring to this world?. This is the question my team and I ask people on the streets of Chicago and where ever we go. We have come across people from all over the world and without an exception, everyone pauses for a long moment to ponder on a question that, undoubtedly, makes them look within . Many people chose to write what they wish to see in the world, instead. No matter the age, gender, nor nationality, everyone yearn for Love and Compassion, Freedom and Care, Prosperity and Peace, Generosity and Kindness, Humor and Laughter, Positivity and Creativity, Joy and Empathy, Understanding and Happiness, Patience and Wisdom, all virtues that make us humans who care for one another. What do you Bring to This World, a year-round photo campaign, is an effort to raise awareness on the issue of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. It is also an effort to bring people together to recognize what's good in them.
Whether the abolition of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking is the cause of choice of those photographed here, or not, the simple act of them lending us their hands to express part of themselves is the kind of generous gesture we appreciate and value for it has the potential of making a grater difference in the world. One hand at a time, one word at a time, one generous act at a time will move us closer to a deeper understanding of the premise that our daily actions affect other people around the world. How we live, how we act, what we consume can either free another human being or enslave him/her. The more we understand the issue of Modern Slavery, the better we will be equipped to be part of the solution to an illegal business that has 150 billion people enslaved around the world today...
